The Protestant Church in Winningen impresses with a special, warm lighting mood in the church interior. The “Swarm” installation materialises this lighting mood. It is comprised of polished, 2 cm large glass crystal balls, which in their size and shape evoke a grape and thus are a reminiscence of viniculture, which is a characteristic feature of the small town at the river Moselle. The glass crystal balls are arranged in such a manner that they together form a sphere with a diameter of 300 cm. The sphere’s diameter corresponds to the semi-circular, characteristic wall openings of this church. In the permanent interaction, different areas of the large sphere reflect the daylight. As soon as you begin to move, the swarm also seemingly comes into motion, because new sections emerge from the shadows and different, in part crystalline structures are formed. Depending on the position, chaos and order alternate inside of the sphere.

Die Evangelische Kirche in Winningen beeindruckt durch eine besondere, warme Licht-stimmung im Kirchenraum. Die Installation Schwarm materialisiert diese Lichtstimmung. Sie besteht aus geschliffenen, 2cm großen Glaskristallkugeln, in Größe und Form an eine Traube erinnernd und somit eine Reminiszenz an den Weinanbau, der das Moselörtchen prägt.Die Glaskristallkugeln sind so angeordnet, dass sie alle zusammen eine Kugel mit 300cm Durchmesser bilden. Dieser Kugeldurchmesser korrespondiert mit den halbkreisförmigen, charakteristischen Wanddurchbrüchen dieser Kirche.In permanentem Wechselspiel reflektieren unterschiedliche Bereiche der großen Kugel das Tageslicht. Sobald man sich in Bewegung setzt, scheint auch der Schwarm sich zu bewegen, da neue Partien aus dem Schatten treten und unterschiedliche, teils kristalline Strukturen entstehen. Je nach Standort wechseln sich Chaos und Ordnung innerhalb der Kugel ab.
